Fat Adder 8.6mm grease hose is a high-pressure, field-adaptable grease hose rated at 280 bar operating pressure and 840 bar burst pressure. The hose is typically used in remote grease line installations up to 18m, and as feeder and secondary grease hoses in automatic lube systems. Four grease hose assemblies are possible with the 8.6mm grease hose.

The Fat Adder 8.6mm grease hose and fittings are interchangeable with common lubrication system grease hoses measuring between 8.3mm and 8.75mm.

Installation

  1. Prior to installation, ensure all points to be connected to the grease anchor block or lube system accept grease from a grease gun. For installation of an automatic lube system, using a lever grease gun with a pressure gauge (Part number HPTASBLY450G) is recommended.

  2. If using a new machine, fill any existing empty cavities with a suitable grease. If using an empty grease line, ensure this is filled with grease. In this case, a grease-filled hose will be more efficient.
  3. During assembly, cleanliness is important to prevent any ingress of contaminants into the automatic lube system, remote grease line system, or bearing points. Even minor contamination may cause system malfunctions and/or bearing damage.
  4. All grease tubing must be cut square and clean, ideally with a sharp tube cutter (Part number TC).

  5. The end of the 8.6mm grease hose must be lubricated for the screw sleeves prior to assembly.

  6. Screw sleeves must be rotated counterclockwise onto the 8.6mm grease hose until they cannot be turned any further, then backed off by half a turn.
  7. Screw the hose stud all the way into the screw sleeve.
  8. If using either the Reusable 7/16 JIC with screw sleeves and 7/16 JIC nipples or Reusable Swivel fitting with screw sleeve fittings, simply screw the fittings together.
  9. If using a Reusable Hose Stud Fitting with Screw Sleeve and Compression Fittings, either:
    1. Install the compression fitting into place by removing the existing grease nipple. Push the hose stud all the way into the compression fitting and tighten the compression nut.
    2. Push the hose stud all the way into the compression fitting and tighten the compression nut. Loosen by a quarter turn, remove the existing grease nipple, install the compression fitting, then tighten the compression nut.

  10. If using a Reusable Hose Stud (with Groove) with Screw Sleeve and Push-in Fitting, install the push-in fitting by removing the grease nipple and pushing the hose stud with groove into the push-in fitting.
  11. Check all grease hoses with a grease gun to ensure no blockages or leaks are present.
